It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William John Sherman, at the age of 83, on Saturday, May 9th, with his son Billy, daughter Jennifer, and her husband George by his side.

Bill chose Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), and passed peacefully, surrounded by love and held in the arms of his daughter. Our family is deeply grateful for the compassion, dignity, and kindness shown throughout this process. It brought Bill comfort and allowed him to leave this world on his own terms — peacefully and without the suffering lung cancer was sure to inflict.

In his final days, William was surrounded by the people and simple comforts he loved most. Together, they shared a delicious meal lovingly prepared by his son-in-law, George, whose cooking he always enjoyed so much, and a shot (or two) of Kahlua to celebrate the soon-to-be reunion with his wife and our mom, Dianne, who passed away in 2017.

A very special thank you to Crystal, Math, Patricia, and Shubhra for taking such loving care of our Dad during his final days and hours.

A visitation, service, and lunch will be held at Lynn-Stone Funeral Home, 15 Yonge Street East, Elmvale, ON L0L 1P0, at 11:30 a.m. on May 19th, followed by burial at Allenwood Cemetery.
