Patrick John Grace, born December 31, 1939, in the rugged beauty of Newfoundland, completed his remarkable journey in Penetanguishene, Ontario on February 12, 2026, after having made his home over the years in Richmond Hill and Simcoe, Ontario.
One of seven children, Patrick learned early the art of sharing—whether it was space, food, or laughter—and he carried that instinct for giving throughout his life. Though small in stature, he possessed a heart that seemed to outgrow him, always ready to offer help, warmth, or a well-timed story.
Patrick shared many years with his beloved partner, Sandy Horrigan (predeceased), with whom he built a life full of companionship, adventure, and the kind of everyday joy that becomes a treasure in memory. He is also survived by his son, James Grace. Though their lives moved in different directions over time, James remains an important part of Patrick’s story.
A man who loved the open road, Patrick was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He could often be found among the chrome and camaraderie of Friday the 13th gatherings in Port Dover, where he was as much a fixture as the roar of bikes. Travel called to him just as strongly—Florida and Cuba were favourite destinations, places where he could soak up the sun and remind others, with a grin, to live the one life they have without hesitation.
Patrick worked as an ironworker, forging strength in both metal and character, before dedicating many years as a custodian in the Catholic school system. He cared for those halls with meticulous pride, understanding that dignity lives in the details and that caring for a place is, in its own way, caring for the people within it.
He leaves behind a community of family and friends who will remember his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and his gentle encouragement to embrace life fully. Patrick’s story is one of quiet impact—proof that a meaningful life isn’t measured in noise or grandeur, but in the steady, generous presence one offers to the world.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Georgian Manor, whose compassion, patience, and attentive care brought comfort and dignity to Patrick in his final chapter. Their kindness will always be remembered.
May he ride on in peace, reunited with Sandy, the sun warm on his back and the road stretching wide before him.
