With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Darlene Desjardins, who passed away at the age of 71.
Darlene was a strong and hardworking woman, defined by her strength and dedication. She took great pride in showing up every day and rarely missed work. She spent many years as a proud and committed employee at Techform, where her work ethic and reliability were admired by those who worked alongside her. She lived with quiet determination and found comfort in the simple things she enjoyed. Even as her health declined, Darlene continued working full time until only a few weeks before her passing—a true testament to her resilience, loyalty, and sense of responsibility.
While she worked hard throughout her life, nothing brought Darlene more joy than her family—especially her grandchildren. Some of the most treasured memories were the simplest ones: picnics on the living room floor, laughter filling the house, spontaneous moments like doing the twist together in the kitchen, and an epic water balloon and water gun fight on the most perfect summer day. Her grandchildren were truly the center of her world and brought her a happiness that words cannot fully capture. The joy they gave her was unmistakable, and the love she had for them will always be remembered. She never missed a chance to tell them that she loved them with her whole heart, often blowing them kisses – a simple gesture that meant everything and will stay with them forever.
She also cherished her girls’ weekends, enjoying the laughter, connection, and joy that came from her wonderful friends. We were so grateful for the happiness and support these friendships brought to her life.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hospice Huronia for their compassion and support in helping get Mom into their care. Although her stay was very brief, every moment they spent with her—and with us, her family—will never be forgotten. We are eternally grateful for the kindness and comfort they provided during such a difficult time.
Darlene will be reunited with her beloved husband, Al, and her son Chris, who predeceased her. She is survived by her son Barry, his wife Danielle, and their sons Rhys and Myles; her daughter Paula, her partner Robert, and their children Henlee and Theodore; and her daughter-in-law Paula. She is also fondly remembered by her stepchildren Cathy, Bill, Connie, Sue, and Michele, along with their families.
She will be remembered for her strength, her consistency, and the quiet but deeply meaningful love she carried for her family.
Though our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life she lived, the strength she showed, and the countless beautiful moments she created with the people she loved most.
Until we meet again, Mom—your love will guide us, your memories will comfort us, and we find peace knowing you are reunited with Dad and Chris.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Huronia in Darlene’s memory would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
