With heavy hearts, Dale Buchanan’s family said their final goodbyes at his bedside at Sunnybrook Hospital on September 25, 2026.

In his 71 years, Dale lived a life rooted in family, hard work, farming, and a deep love for the land. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ariel, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage after their teenage love story began; his children, Steve (Lisa) and Brenda (Gord); and his grandsons, Matthew and Daniel. He was also a much-loved and respected Uncle Dale.

Dale dedicated 31 years to Springwater Township as Roads Supervisor, where his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand made him a valued colleague and mentor.

A farmer at heart, Dale took great pride in the family farm. He was happiest when there was work to be done, whether caring for the land, growing the Charolais herd, tending the property, or climbing onto one of his beloved John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed his years as a truck driver, pulling gears and taking in the open road. Dale never shied away from hard work and believed in getting the job done.

As much as Dale loved working the farm, he also treasured time at his happy place: the cabin at the back of the farm with family and friends. Fittingly, his final moments at the farm were spent on his John Deere tractor in the hay barn, doing what he loved on the land that meant so much to him.

The youngest of seven, Dale will be lovingly remembered by Lorna and has gone to be with Eric, Jean, Irene, Arkle, and Lloyd.

Dale leaves behind a lifetime of hard work, cherished family memories, and a legacy deeply rooted in the farm he loved. He will be missed more than words can say by his family, neighbours, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on the farm at a later date, where family and friends will gather and share memories.
