It is with profound sad news that we announce the passing of Connie Gillespie – a beloved wife of Harry, mother to Kirk (Tami) Gillespie and Kyle (Sandie) Gillespie and Oma to Jacob, Riley, Emmerson, Graydon, Amelia, Evan & Sara. Connie was a chersihed sister-in-law, aunt, teacher, and friend to many.
Connie lived a life filled with love, faith, adventure, and service to others.
For many years, Connie dedicated herself to education within the Simcoe County school community. As a gifted and compassionate teacher, she inspired countless students through her passion for languages, art, and special education.
Above all, Connie will be remembered for her deep and abiding faith and for the unconditional love she extended to everyone whose path she crossed. By far Connie’s greatest attribute was her ability to connect with others and maintain those relationships. Through her extensive travels she connected with many people who she remained in contact with throughout her lifetime. Her passion for journaling, keeping dairies, writing letters and cards was appreciated by anyone she touched. You could always count on Connie for a handwritten note or card expressing her gratitude and detailing the events of your visit.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for the beautiful legacy she leaves behind-a legacy of faith, family, friendship, education, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A church service and reception to celebrate Connie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 7/26 at 2:00 p.m.at Northwest Barrie United Church, 464 Ferndale Dr. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and thanksgiving for a life so beautifully lived.
