On this side of eternity, the great Charles Foreshew has felled his last tree. Guided his last tour of Caribou Lake. Won his last game of cribbage.
In fall of 2025 the cancer was discovered. As a result of treatment, we almost lost him in February. Then he made up his mind not to fight for a longer life, but to fight for a better one, and we couldn’t be more thankful. With his determination and by the grace of God we enjoyed the most amazing summer together, as family, at the lake. We lived our usual Foreshew way. We played, and ate, and worked, and built, and prayed, and laughed together all summer long. Recognizing the miracle we were living all the while.
But as the sunset moved South over Caribou Island, we knew summer would come to an end.
On September 12, in the wee hours of the morning, our beloved patriarch went on to glory. We were all there with him telling stories of the impact he made on our lives.
He died peacefully, at home, surrounded by love.
Charles will forever be remembered by his easy boisterous laugh, his encouraging nature, his mis-buttoned shirts, the safety he offered to all he interacted with, and his great success as a man, a grandfather, a father and a husband. Well done, Dad!!!
Charles was the perfect match to his wife Carolyn. He was the loving and supportive Dad to his favourite oldest daughter Carrie and her husband Aaron, and to his favourite youngest daughter Charlotte and her husband Steve. He was a fun, caring and involved grandfather to his grandkids Elijah and fiancé Caitlin, Aislyn, Elliott and Callum. Charles was a bonus Dad/Grandpa to “adopted” daughter Letitia and her husband Brent and their daughter Jules. He was a wonderful brother to Mary Lynne and Phil, Anne and Brian, and Melody, and a fun-loving uncle to so many.
He will be greatly missed by all.
Of course, we grieve, and we always will. But the grief is overpowered by our great gratitude. What a man we had to love!
