September 5, 1932 – July 18, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arley Francis Jennett, who died peacefully at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on July 18, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by his loved ones. Arley was born on September 5, 1932, in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, and lived most of his life near Moonstone in the township he loved so much.
Arley was the beloved husband of the late Marion Jane Jennett, who predeceased him just two days short of their 69th wedding anniversary. Above all, Arley loved his wife, and cared for her lovingly until she passed — a doting husband to the very end.
Loving father to Brian (Darla), Wayne (Brenda), Kathy (Bruce), Annabelle, Rhonda (Bill), Bob (Sherrie), Rodney (Leonne), Rose, and Kevin. Cherished grandfather to 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his beloved granddaughters Leslie and Megan.
Arley spent his life farming and was also employed at Oakridge Hospital in Penetanguishene. He was happiest driving his tractors, fixing up old tractors and farm machinery, spending time with his horses, and chit-chatting with friends and family. He loved dancing, a good roast beef and potato dinner and rhubarb pie, and could always be found in front of the TV for the Calgary Stampede or a Blue Jays game.
Arley was a legend to everyone who knew him — charismatic, energetic, and forever young in spirit, despite his many years. He never forgot a single detail, loved to tell his old stories, and had a great sense of humour, delivering one-liners right up until the end, always with a twinkle in his eye. He was the type of person who would help anyone with anything, and do it with a smile on his face. Anyone who met him loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 19, 2026, at his home in Moonstone.
