FORLER, HELEN (nee SAUNDERSON)

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on January 21, 2022.    Pre-deceased by first husband Bill Saunderson, second husband Ken Forler; 10 year companion George Hazel and 8 year companion Russ Mowforth.

She will be missed by her children Terry (Lee) Saunderson; Margot (John) Nicholls; Susan (Hazen) Walker and Mark (Catherine) Saunderson.  Also, grandchildren Jennifer Pershick, Ashley Blanchard, Lindsay Walker (deceased), Matthew Saunderson-Ree, Jessie Saunderson, Samantha Walker, Mitchell Holtz and 6 great grand-children.

Helen hails from Saint John, NB where she was the first employee of the Boy Scouts of Canada. She and her husband Bill went on to be the local Boy Scout leaders while raising their 4 children.  Moving to Toronto so Bill could further his teaching career, Helen began a successful career with Coppercraft Canada (Home Party) winning cars, furs, and trips with her over-the-top sales.

Bill passed away at the age of 56 and Ken Forler came into her life.  It is then they built their house in Elmvale, Ontario.  They were active members of the community.  Following Ken’s passing she met George Hazel through the local Bayshore Senior Club where they were avid card players.  After George’s passing she met her final companion Russ Mowforth who she was with until his passing.  Helen recently moved to Russell, Ontario (Ottawa), to share her final years with her daughter and her family at the Russell Meadows Retirement Villa.

An obituary cannot fully capture everything that made Helen, Helen. She had the greatest sense of humour and was always ready with a joke or story to lighten your day. How fortunate anyone who met her was to share in her laughter.
