NIGHTINGALE, HAROLD

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Harold (aka Harry, Flop) Nightingale announce his passing on December 1, 2021 in his 78th year. After beating the odds multiple times over the past 13 years, he passed quietly at his farm with his family by his side.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years Brenda (nee Lee) and his daughters Lisa Belcourt (Phil), Kimberly Nightingale and Sheri Nightingale. He was the much-loved Poppa to Jenna Lee, Alyssa Lee,  Madison Belcourt, Emma-Lee Belcourt, Hannah Kirkdeikis, Owen Kirdeikis, and Great-Poppa to Percy.

He will be sadly missed by his sister, Linda Ellery, and his brother-in law, Bill Lee.

Harold is predeceased by his parents George and Rose Nightingale, and his brother Larry.

He will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Susan Moreau, Mary Beausoleil, Michelle Sainsbury (Steve), Annie Lodwick, brother-in-law Jim Lee (Pat) and many nieces and nephews.

Harold grew up in Wyevale and established roots on Hummingbird Hill Road in Oro-Medonte almost 50 years ago. He was a long-time employee of Bell Canada but his true passion was farming. He was well-known throughout the area for the sweet corn he grew and sold. He was happiest after his retirement when he could devote his energy to farming, hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.

Harold bravely battled Multiple Myeloma for more than 13 years. The family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to the many family, friends and neighbours who have helped them throughout the past years, as well as to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Dr. Reece, Royal Victoria Hospital and Dr. Nay and Dr. Helt.

Visitation will be held at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home in Elmvale from 1-3 and 5-7 pm on Friday, December 3, 2021. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:30 am. You may view the funeral service on Youtube:  https://youtu.be/uO7a9-88AXA

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donations to Unity United Church (by mail to 4967 4th Line North, Midland, ON L4R 4K3), Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (https://themmrf.org/) and Hospice Huronia – Tomkins House (https://www.hospicehuronia.ca).
