GIFFEN, GORDON GILCHRIST

      It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Gordon, on November 9, 2021, at the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland, with his sons by his side. Gordon Gilchrist Giffen, in his 90^th year.  Devoted husband of the late Gwyneth (nee Owen). Loving Father/“Pops” of Greg (Yvonne) and Ron (Lorrie). Cherished Grandfather/”Papa” of Jason (Melanie) Giffen, Jayde (Jeremy) Isaac, Megan (Max) Kant, and Molly (Joseph) Scicluna. Adoring Great Grandfather of Blake, Prestin, Maeve, the late Layne, Shae, Gibson, Miller, and Edison. Dear Companion and Brother-in-law of Elsie Giffen. Brother-in-law of June Giffen. Proud Uncle to Cathy (Jim) Adams and his treasured Giffen “clan!”  Gordon is preceded in death by his parents Newman and Lucy Giffen, his In-laws Arthur and Elizabeth Owen, his brothers Aubrey (Dorothy), Don (Bernice), Arthur and his sister Margaret Giffen as well as his sister-in-law Rhianon (Arthur) Dolby. He will be fondly remembered by friends and neighbors from Minesing, Barrie and Bayfield House in Penetanguishene. 

As the youngest of four sons of Lucy & Newman Giffen, Gordon purchased the family farm along the banks of the Nottawasaga River in the village of Edenvale where he nurtured his love of the land and was constantly there to lend a hand. He always had a kind word to say, a good sense of humor and left behind a smile! Special thanks to Dr. Gaffney and the teams at Bayfield House and Bayshore Home Health for ensuring Gordon’s wellbeing over a most challenging year. 

Cremation will take place followed by a private graveside burial at Minesing Union Cemetery.
