David (Dave) Robert Lewis

Dave passed away unexpectedly at 4:04 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Georgian Bay General Hospital. Though taken from us too soon, his open and loving spirit leaves behind a legacy of light, kindness, and hope.Dave served proudly as a Naval Firefighter with the Canadian Forces for ten years. He went on to dedicate 30 years to the Ontario Provincial Police, where he served as a Force Diver, a member of the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and on the Crime Unit (BEAT). He retired with honour in 2009 as a Detective Sergeant. Dave remained active in his community as an executive member of the Elmvale Royal Canadian Legion and as a dedicated Freemason with the Elmvale Masonic Lodge.Brave and quietly humble by nature, Dave always made time for others. He had a gift for storytelling, a quick wit, and a heart for helping—never hesitating to lend a hand to friends, neighbours, or anyone in need.He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie, and was a proud and loving father to Stephen Lewis, Kelly Goulet (Robert), Ryan Lewis, and Robyn Lewis. He deeply cherished his grandchildren Juliet Goulet-Lockwood (Evan), Mackenna Goulet (Tyler), and his great-grandson Elijah Goulet-Lockwood.Dave was a friend to hundreds and a mentor to many. He was admired, respected, and will be missed beyond measure.The family extends heartfelt thanks to the paramedics and emergency responders who assisted Dave on July 6, 2025, and to the exceptional medical staff at Georgian Bay General Hospital for their care and compassion.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Elmvale Royal Canadian Legion Branch 262. All are welcome to join us in sharing stories and celebrating the many good times we had with him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the Elmvale Royal Canadian Legion Branch 262 or Furry Friends Barrie Animal Rescue.
