Passed away peacefully at the Georgian Manor, Penetanguishene on Thursday August 14, 2025. Frances Downer (nee Parkinson) in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Ted) Downer. Loved mother of James (late Deborah), Wendy & husband Mel McIntyre, Barbara & husband Glenn Woods. Grandmother to Kari, Steven, Stephanie, Edward and Deanna. Great Gramma to Reagan, Cameron, Bailey and Carter.
For many years, Frances served the Elmvale sewing & craft community from her store, The Thrifty Thimble. Frances was an accomplished seamstress, and a master of petit point. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank Georgian Manor, and the staff at Sumac area for the care and compassion shown to Frances. To the PSW’s from ParaMed Home Health Care, especially her longer-term ladies Angela & Stacy. A special thank you to Samatha of The Busy Panda PSW & Respite Services for her years of dedication to Frances and the family.
A Celebration of Frances’ Life will be held at Tiffin Pier Waterfront Condiminiums, 699 Aberdeen Blvd Midland ON from 1 pm - 4 pm on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Memorial donations may be made in Frances’ honour to the Elmvale and District Food Bank.
