CORMIER, ROBIN LYNNE

With great sadness and much love we announce the passing of Robin Lynne Cormier of Elmvale Ontario at the age of 58.  Robin died peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital in the arms of her beloved daughter Grace, surrounded by loved ones.

Robin was born on September 9th, 1966 in Comox, British Columbia.  Her love of travel may have started early with spending her childhood in various locations including Germany, Trenton and London Ontario, as well as Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Her adventurous spirit started young, showcased by choosing to go for a walk by herself at the age of 5 while in Germany.  Furthermore, her ability to welcome conversation by anyone was observed by her father when he found her safely chatting with police at the station.

She graduated from Fanshawe college with a focus in business and spent most of her working career at Thermogenics Boilers.  Due to health challenges Robin left her job early and when feeling well took advantage to spend precious time with friends and family.

Robin was known for her warmth, great laugh and ability to make anyone feel comfortable.    She shared the best hugs, everyone loved “a Robin hug”.  She had many interests and was eager to try new things.  She was an avid golfer, loved kayaking, biking, gardening and crafts.  Many of those who knew her are kept warm by her knitted blankets.  She loved to shop and find a bargain in the clearance aisle or with an auction.

Although separated from her spouse, Paul Cormier, they continued a strong friendship and worked together to co-parent their cherished daughter Grace Cormier.  Motherhood came easily to Robin and Grace was always her top priority, unleashing her “Mama Bear” personality when needed.

Robin will be dearly missed by her parents Ken Collard (Nancy) and Beryl Gilbert (late Jim) as well as her siblings James Collard (Sandy) and Denise Collard.   She will be lovingly remembered by her many close friends.

A celebration of life will be planned and details will be shared with friends and family in the future.

Gratitude is expressed to Dr Kotchetkov and the dedicated staff at RVH, with special thanks to nurses Chris in the Cancer Cente and Abigail in the ICU.  Donations can be made in Robin’s memory to the RVH Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
