THORNDYKE, SANDRA (nee WEAVER)

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce our mother, Sandy Thorndyke, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Wednesday June 4th, 2025. Sandy is survived by her 2 children, Mark and Kimberly (Adam Smith), her grandchildren Danica, Kiera, and Emmett. Sister to Keith Weaver (Jeanette), Aunt to Gordon, David, and Scott.  Mother to the late Tracy Thorndyke (1981-2012).  Daughter to the late Betty and Charles Weaver. 

Sandy was born in Johannesburg South Africa then later moved to Toronto. Sandy loved animals, nature, music arts and crafts, sunbathing, and the fresh country air. Sandy spent over half her life as a caregiver, not only as a Nurse, but also as a mother and a grandmother. Caring for two special needs children, she gave everything of herself to her children.

Sandy's kindness and love stretched beyond her family and friends, and into the Elmvale community. She loved to volunteer in her younger years and be involved in events within our little town of Elmvale. 

Our mother was truly a special woman and we will miss her more than words could ever express. 

Arrangements have been made with Lynn-Stone Funeral Home with the service and celebration of life to be held at the Elmvale Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 14th at 2:30pm.

The service will be live streamed on the Elmvale Presbyterian Church's YouTube Channel and remain on the channel afterwards for those who are unable to attend Sandy's Service.
