HALLYBURTON, GRACE ELIZABETH (nee BUKER)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Grace Hallyburton on May 21, 2025, at the age of 81. Grace passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Grace was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She cherished adventures with her husband Rolly, exploring in their camper van with their beloved dogs, spending winters in Florida, kayaking, biking, and gardening.

Born in Barrie on April 21, 1944, Grace’s bright smile, warm nature, and quick wit made her beloved by many. Her passion for gardening was evident in her breathtaking waterfront property, where she hosted laughter-filled garden tours followed by tea and sandwiches, offering peace and inspiration to visitors.  Her career was devoted to teaching primary school, where she made a lasting impact on the children and families with her imagination and boundless love.

Grace will be forever remembered by her loving husband, Rolland Hallyburton, two children, Elizabeth Johnston (David) and John Hallyburton (Dawn), her four grandchildren, Travis Kaasalainen, Brittany Johnston, Ben Hallyburton (Jordan), Nathan Hallyburton (Kendra), great-grandmother to Grace Lee and Brody Hallyburton, and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.  A devoted sister, she leaves behind David Buker (Gail). She was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Elmer Buker, sister Evelyn Brown (Maurice), and brothers Brian Buker (Carol), Carl Buker (Joan), Glen Buker (Gwen), and Jack Greaves (Olive).

A celebration of life will be held at her beloved waterfront property, 2027 N Orr Lake Road, Elmvale, on June 21, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM, where friends and family can tour her gardens and share their favorite memories. In honor of her memory, donations may be made to the Cancer Society. A private service will be held; no formal funeral will take place.

Grace will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever thrive in the gardens she tended and the hearts she touched.

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
